My Heart Sang Copyright 3/5/98 - Dan Sharpe.

I remember when my heart sang its sweetest devotion,
"if you were a beach, I'd be the ocean".

But you could not share what I longed to see,
and so my heart pines in its lone misery.

I look back at hopes of colors bright,
in the darkest hours of the coldest night.

And remember that once, my heart sang so sweet,
of the one who could have made me complete.

I know once again, when my heart has healed,
it will sing again of love unconcealed.

But I wonder if ever a song so true,
can be sung to someone other than you.
