"Behold, what manor of Love the Father hath lavished on us, that we should
be called the sons of God."
1 JOHN 3:1
Christianity isn't about religion, but rather it IS about relationships.
Infact, by Scriptural Definition, Christianity is founded upon a relationship
with the Ressurected Lord Jesus Christ. It is only because we are baptized into
him, by faith, that we are Born Again, and hence "Christians". If you become
aware of anything, become fully aware of this: God the Father wants to have a
relationship with YOU that is the same as His relationship with Jesus Christ.
I am NOT speaking of Jesus Christ as God the Son. But rather as The Man Jesus
who is currently seated at the Right Hand of the Father, anointed King and
High Priest.
"As many as received him, gave he the power to become sons of God."
JOHN 1:12
When his disciples asked Jesus "Teach us to pray" he instructed them in a
METHOD of prayer which we call the Our Father. It is not a specific prayer,
but rather instruction on HOW to approach God in Prayer. When we understand
that reality we gain insight into God's desired relationship.
My Father in Heaven
I count Your Name to be Holy.
Your Kingdom be established
and Your Will accomplished
as perfectly here on earth (in my life and circumstances)
as it is in Heaven.
I trust you for all my daily needs
forgive me as I too now forgive anyone I have anything against
You lead me not into temptation
but rather into complete deliverence from all evil
yours is the kingdom (of my heart, and of all creation)
the power (to do all you promise)
and the glory (in, and for all things).
The desire of God for man is that we all come into a Father/son relationship
with Him through faith in Jesus Christ. And that as the fruit of that
relationship we would willingly submit to be obedient to Him because we love
Him. That His Word be done as totally and instantly on earth in our lives as it
is in Heaven. That we would trust Him for all our daily needs and forgive others
in the confidence that He forgives us all of our sins. That we recognise that He
isn't the author of temptation, but rather our deliverer when we are tempted.
That all that matters, or is eternally significant, is His Kingdom.
That He is fully able to fullfill His promises to us. And that we glorify Him
in all that we do.
Jesus in John 16 is teaching his disciples about the comming age when he
would be resurrected and have ascended into Heaven.
"In that day you will ask me nothing, truly I tell you, whatever you ask in
my name the Father will give it to you. Till now you have not asked for
anything in my name, ask and you shall recieve and your joy will be
complete...... In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I
will ask the Father for you, No the Father Himself loves you because you
love me and believe that I came from God."
JOHN 16:23,26+27
From this we see that the relationship God the Father desires isn't just one
of approaching Him solely through the intermediation of Jesus, but rather it is
to be a one on one PERSONAL relationship. Indeed though we come in the name of
Jesus, we are the ones responsible for making petition to our Heavenly Father.
God is so good! He takes fallen man and doesn't stop at restoring us to Adam's
pre-fall state, but makes us members of His own household!
"If we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and co-heirs with the
Lord Jesus Christ."
ROMANS 8:17a
If you haven't yet accepted God's gift, Jesus Christ as your Savior, and Proclaimed him as your Lord, and want this Father/son relationship, pray this prayer aloud:
